To some thermal equipment, in order to save energy and improve working condition, it is necessary to insulate these equipment. But to some other equipment we should consider advantages and disadvantages of isolation of these equipment comprehensively. The right way to use light weight insulation fire brick.
(1)The insulation of thermal equipment should not affect the life of the whole refractory brickwork.
(2)For most continuously working furnaces, large area insulation is reasonable and it can reduce heat loss. But few parts are not appropriate for thermal insulation, like the top of open hearth furnace, as thermal insulation will affect the life of furnace top. For periodically working furnace,heat storage loss is the main factor of heat loss. If the increase of heat storage loss of brickwork exceeds the heat loss under no heat insulation condition, it is not necessary to do heat insulation work. So we should calculate the heat loss and heat storage loss then decide whether to do the heat insulation work or not.
