Application of Lightweight Refractory Brick in Roller Kiln

This issue we continue to introduce application of lightweight refractory brick in roller kiln
During construction, the ash joint is strictly controlled within 2mm; the bricks surrounding burner (contacting fire part) shall be built with light mullite bricks, and shall be compacted with fiber blankets; the expansion joints of the high alumina bricks shall be filled with high alumina type aluminum silicate fiber blanket, other parts of the expansion joints should be filled with standard aluminum silicate fiber blanket.
Thin brick energy-saving roller kiln needs to be lighter, and energy-saving, which undoubtedly puts forward higher requirements for kiln body masonry refractories. The future development trends of thin brick roller kiln refractories are as follows:
1. Lightweight refractory bricks are developing in the direction of lower density, higher thermal shock resistance, higher mechanical strength, lower linear shrinkage after reheating, better thermal insulation performance, longer service life and being more economical. In particular, it is more difficult to improve the performance of lightweight refractory bricks used in the working face of high-temperature furnaces above 1500°C.
2. Refractory fiber products will be more widely used in the future, and there will be more all refractory fiber kilns. The durability and chemical resistance of refractory fiber products should be further improved, which is also more difficult in high-temperature furnaces (above 1300°C). At present, it is not that there is no refractory fiber with high temperature resistance, but the price is very high and the performance is not very satisfactory.
3. Refractory materials in other important parts, such as rollers in roller kilns, high-speed burner combustion chambers and nozzles, all need to be further improved.
With the development of refractory materials, there are many contradictions to be resolved, such as the contradiction between lightweight and service life and strength, and the contradiction between lightweight and high-temperature mechanical strength. With the continuous resolution of these contradictions, the thin brick roller kiln will develop to a higher level.
